A. Vanessa La Rocque has over 20 years in education, 16 years of which dedicated to supporting Special Education students in Boston Public Schools as well as years of experience as a Building Representative where she has been instrumental in the fight to save McKinley from eviction.

Vanessa was amongst the first group selected for the Regional Building Representative Leaders.
​
She is responsible for supporting Building Representatives in the Back Bay/South End, Fenway and North End.
In 2016, she was selected Paraprofessional Building Representative of the Year.
She also served on the Substitute Teacher and Paraprofessional sub-committee of the Collective Bargaining Committee proceeding contract negotiations.
​
Vanessa has represented the Boston Teachers Union in Minnesota and Washington DC as a delegate.
Vanessa has a long history of conflict resolution training and community involvement.
​
She has sat in on hearings over the years, and she strongly believes in paraprofessionals having a voice.
​
She is ready to assist Substitute Teachers and Paraprofessionals of different areas (teaching, student support, clerical, library, bilingual, security, Community Liaisons, Community Field Coordinators , Family Coordinators, SST, and others).
She will continue to assist with the bargaining process.
She will continue to advocate for Paras and others within the BTU membership.
She will continue to work in an effective and cooperative way with the BTU leadership and members.
